Just eat more fruits and vegetables and you’d be on your way to avoid depression. Yes, you read that right. According to a study, eating more fruits and vegetables, especially following the Mediterranean diet, can help prevent the onset of depression.
The study involved more than 15,000 participants and they were asked to rate their happiness and their adherence to the diet. All of the participants are devoid of depression from the beginning of the study.
It was found out that eating low nutrient content meals is related to having depression. And if you eat more fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts and those that are great sources of omega-3 fatty acids, you’re on your way to a happier you.
The protective role is ascribed to their nutritional properties, where nuts, legumes, fruits and vegetables (sources of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins and minerals) could reduce the risk of depression.
How to avoid depression
So what are you waiting for? Try weaning yourself from the unhealthy sweets and avoid loading up on carbohydrates, unless you’re an athlete and you burn it.

I know the purpose of this article is to help us feel better or healthier and possibly get rid of depression, but it’s not as easy as that. Maybe the message should be more about making sure that you take care of yourself in order to feel better and less depressed, but not making it sound like fruits and vegetables are the CURE.
It did say in the content that it can ‘help’ and you can ‘avoid’ depression.
The problem is that people with depression won’t have the energy to even do this. For those who want to prevent it, sure, please feel free to help yourself and make sure that you’re eating a healthy diet.
I remember when I was feeling depressed, I would eat about 3 bananas each day because I read that bananas contain serotonin or “happy hormones”.

The reason why people are feeling depressed because of lack of nutrition is because their body is reacting from the lack of nutrients! But I think that this should be categorized far from clinical depression.

Anyone who isn’t healthy can be prone to depression. But I’m not going to say that it’s the case for everybody. Just certain individuals.
Depression is such a sensitive topic and it’s difficult to write about it as well. It can offend people who are going through it and it can’t go away with just eating healthy.?
