Just eat more fruits and vegetables and you’d be on your way to avoid depression. Yes, you read that right. According to a study, eating more fruits and vegetables, especially following the Mediterranean diet, can help prevent the onset of depression.

The study involved more than 15,000 participants and they were asked to rate their happiness and their adherence to the diet. All of the participants are devoid of depression from the beginning of the study.

It was found out that eating low nutrient content meals is related to having depression. And if you eat more fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts and those that are great sources of omega-3 fatty acids, you’re on your way to a happier you.

The protective role is ascribed to their nutritional properties, where nuts, legumes, fruits and vegetables (sources of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins and minerals) could reduce the risk of depression.
