Really, I feel like a dolt for not figuring this out sooner.
I used to eat a salad (chopped cucumbers, carrots, radishes) for lunch pretty much every day. I found that just the veggies wasn’t cutting it. I felt full after eating it, but then an hour later I was ravenous again.
So I tried switching it up and just for kicks and giggles I decided to take some of my leftover homemade roasted red pepper hummus with me today. So for each break I had that with organic veggies and a banana.
And, guess what. I made it from my first break to my second one without the bottom of my stomach gnawing at the top! And then I made it from the second break until I got home the same way! In fact, I was rather startled by how full I felt after each break. Which is upsetting in and of itself because it means I was used to feeling hungry. Not good.
So, I had to relearn the lesson that I need more protein at work. Now that I know I can start making some hummus and nut butters at the start of every week. Sometimes I switch it up with a tofu sandwich from a restaurant nearby (so delicious!) and a green kale and fruit smoothie, but that gets pricey after a while.
What do you snack on at work?
